Against the Flow international film festival makes its debut in Koprivshtitsa

Film screenings under the stars, late-night conversations, live music and some of the year's best Bulgarian films set the scene in the historic town of Koprivshtitsa as it hosts the inaugural International Film Festival Against the Flow from July 17 to 26.

The programme brings together award-winning Bulgarian and international productions exploring themes of freedom, memory, identity, the environment, art and the choice to go against the flow. Meetings with directors and actors, as well as lectures, discussions and workshops, will accompany the screenings.

Following the final festival screening, audiences will be invited to the concert Django Ze – A Tribute to Todor Kolev, honouring one of Bulgaria's best-loved actors, musicians and entertainers.

Admission to all screenings and accompanying events is free.
