Justice minister presents judicial reform progress to European Parliament

Bulgaria’s Minister of Justice Nikolay Naydenov appeared before the Democracy, Rule of Law and Fundamental Rights Monitoring Group of the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE), the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice announced.

Minister Naydenov presented the latest amendments to the Judicial System Act and the Criminal Procedure Code, as well as the establishment of the new anti-corruption commission. He explained the responsibilities of the institutions in ensuring objectivity and transparency in the selection of the Supreme Judicial Council.

Minister Naydenov was scheduled to appear jointly with Boyan Magdalinchev, representative of the Supreme Judicial Council. However, Magdalinchev did not attend and did not provide a reason for his absence, reported the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).
