Tourism organizations call for modernization of Malyovitsa resort

Representatives of tourism organizations from across Bulgaria have voiced their support for the modernization of the Malyovitsa ski lift, located in the northwestern part of the Rila Mountains. With a symbolic performance at a tourism festival organized by the Bulgarian Tourist Union, participants sent a message in support of the resort’s development and efforts to establish Malyovitsa as a modern sports and tourism destination. Tourists from across the country formed the words “For the Lift” with their bodies. They warned that the progress made in recent years could be placed at serious risk if the project to modernize the facility is halted.

Representatives of tourism associations said that the modernization of the lift is not an isolated infrastructure project, but an important part of the resort’s overall development, Focus news agency reported. A modern facility is needed to improve accessibility and ensure greater safety for visitors. The messages from the tourism organizations focused on the future of Malyovitsa as a place for sports, training, and the development of children and young people.

According to the participants, after years of standstill, children’s camps, training sessions, and sports club initiatives have resumed at Malyovitsa. However, without modern lift infrastructure, the resort would struggle to remain competitive with other mountain centers and continue hosting national and international competitions.
