Bulgaria's Social Tension Index fell to 6.22 in the second quarter, according to a survey by polling agency Myara, cited by Bulgarian National Television (BNT). The reading points to a slight easing in social tensions compared with the start of the year, when the index stood at 6.76, and immediately before the elections, when it reached 6.88.
Despite the decline, the index remains in a range associated with elevated risk. The pollsters said expectations of the new government were high, while tensions within society remained elevated.
Economic and social issues continued to dominate public concerns. Inflation and the high cost of living topped the list, while corruption and the high number of road accidents also ranked among the public's main worries.
