Bulgaria will remain an active and responsible member of the European Union and NATO, working to strengthen unity, stability and regional security, Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova said at a reception marking Bulgarian Diplomatic Service Day, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) reported.
The event was attended by Parliament Speaker Mihaela Dotsova, deputy prime ministers, cabinet ministers, lawmakers, members of the diplomatic corps, diplomats and Foreign Ministry staff, as well as magistrates and journalists.
Petrova said Bulgaria's diplomatic service had long served as the country's first line of defence in protecting its national interests abroad and continued to play that role today.
