It is ruled out that military action in the Middle East could be carried out from Bulgarian territory. This was stated by Prime Minister Rumen Radev at the beginning of the government meeting.

He pointed out that the deployment of tanker aircraft at Bezmer Airport is solely for logistical missions of refuelling in the air outside Bulgarian airspace. He also said that Sofia was fulfilling its commitments under the Defence Cooperation Agreement with the US from 2006 and relies on its allies to also fulfil their obligations when the country needs support. The Prime Minister added that Bulgaria is committed to good relations with Iran and calls on the parties to the conflict to take a step back, because this is in the interest of Europe and Bulgaria, BTA reports.
