Sunny Thursday before storms return on Friday

Thursday will be mostly sunny, with clouds building during the afternoon. Brief showers are expected in parts of central northern Bulgaria, the east and the mountains. Isolated thunderstorms are possible. Temperatures will range from 11°C to 19°C in the morning and from 25°C to 30°C during the day. In Sofia, the forecast is for around 12°C early on and 26°C later.

The Black Sea coast will be mostly sunny. Low cloud and reduced visibility are expected along the northern coast early in the morning, with isolated showers possible later in the day. Highs will reach 24°C to 28°C. Sea water temperatures will be 25°C to 26°C, dropping to around 19°C north of Cape Kaliakra. The sea will be slight to moderate.

The mountains will start the day with sunshine before afternoon cloud brings brief showers, mainly over the Rila and Rhodope mountains, with isolated thunderstorms. Temperatures will reach about 21°C at 1,200 metres and 14°C at 2,000 metres.

On Friday, showers and thunderstorms are expected to become widespread again, with a risk of heavy downpours in some areas.
