The
Bulgarian passport is only one place behind the US passport in terms
of attractiveness and allows visa-free access to just two countries
less than the US personal document for travelling abroad. This is
shown by the Henley Passport Index, which has been measuring the
ratings of individual countries' passports for 20 years.
The
Bulgarian passport ranks 11th in the world, together with the
Romanian, and provides visa-free access to 178 countries.
The
Bulgarian document had its lowest ranking in 2006, when it occupied
29th position. The ranking uses data from the International Air
Transport Association (IATA) and ranks countries' passports according
to the number of countries their holders can visit without a visa. At
the top of the ranking is Singapore with access to 193 countries
