Minister of Defence relies on NATO Missile Defence

Bulgaria does not expect an attack from Iran and the state has taken all necessary measures to limit the risks associated with the deployment of US military tanker planes at the Bezmer Air Base. This was what Minister of Defence Dimitar Stoyanov told bTV. He added that additional measures have been taken, including the deployment of air defence systems and enhanced cooperation with the US and NATO.

According to him, the biggest challenge is people’s fears. “I did not go to Bezmer to convince or dissuade, but to provide reliable information. These meetings will continue,” the minister said. Stoyanov specified that the permission is for the deployment of up to 8 aircraft, but according to his expert assessment, fewer aircraft will probably be deployed at Bezmer due to infrastructure restrictions.
