The budget is unconstitutional and GERB will file an appeal with the Constitutional Court, party leader Boyko Borissov said in Varna on July 26. He pointed out that the adopted state budget plan with a deficit of 5.7 percent violates the fiscal rules of the permissible budget deficit, which should be 3 percent, BTA reports.

The net increase in debt in Budget 2026 is 10 billion euros for 5 months, the leader of "We Continue the Change" and former Finance Minister Asen Vassilev told bTV. For a year, this government will take more debt than in the previous three, he added. The former Finance Minister described as an “absolute lie” the claims of the ruling Progressive Bulgaria party that the increased spending is to cover old debts. The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Yavor Gechev, once again told Nova TV that the budget reflected already made expenses.
