In its annual report, the State Agency for National Security - SANS
describes the risks facing Bulgaria. The service puts the complex
geopolitical situation, conflicts, hybrid threats and increasingly
frequent disasters due to climate change at first place.
According to SANS,
the risk of sabotage and cyber attacks against critical
facilities in the fields of state governance, energy, transport and
communications remains high, both by malicious states and non-state
actors, including criminal, extremist or terrorist organizations.
The activity of
foreign special services in the country remains high, according to
the analysis submitted to parliament. SANS has given a negative
opinion on granting Bulgarian citizenship to 25 foreigners in 2025
due to activities threatening national security.
