President to announce whether she supports or vetoes budget 2026

On July 29 at 3 p.m., President Iliana Iotova will make a statement on the 2026 state budget adopted by parliament, the head of state’s press office announced.

On July 28, “We Continue the Change” submitted to the president a petition signed by over 30,000 citizens calling for a veto on the 2026 State Budget. The party said it would appeal to the Constitutional Court if the law is not returned for new discussion. GERB-SDS also stated in parliament yesterday that they would file a constitutional complaint against the state budget after its promulgation in the State Gazette due to the planned budget deficit of 5.7%, the freezing of the minimum wage at 620 euros and the planned assumption of new debt in the amount of up to 10.1 billion euro.
