The presidential elections will be held on October 25 and a possible runoff would take place on November 1. This became known after the regular council of the heads of the parliamentary groups in the National Assembly, BNT has reported.

According to the Constitution, the vote must be no earlier than three months and no later than two months before the expiration of the current president's term. It expires on January 22, 2027. So far, there are only two officially announced candidacies for the presidential elections. That of the current head of state Iliana Iotova, who is supported by "Progressive Bulgaria", and that of the chairman of the Bulgarian Agricultural People's Union, Nikolay Nenchev. It is expected that other candidates will be former caretaker prime minister Andrey Gyurov and Prof. Daniel Valchev.
