Kozloduy NPP continues to operate despite low level of the Danube

The two power units of the Kozloduy NPP continue to operate despite the record low levels of the Danube River, the Ministry of Energy announced in updated information to media. The ministry notes that the low level of the Danube has already led to the shutdown of the Hungarian Paks NPP. and creates difficulties for nuclear power plants in other countries, as well.

According to experts, if the average rate of decline of the river level observed over the past week is maintained, it is not expected that a significant reduction in the production capacity at the Kozloduy NPP will be necessary at least in the next 3 weeks. The Ministry of Energy indicates that it has taken the necessary actions to promptly inform the Bulgarian institutions and to ensure international cooperation within the framework of the agreements for the management and use of the waters of the Danube River. Constant contact is maintained at the highest level with the authorities in Serbia and Romania.
