Goya prints go on display at Sofia's Kvadrat 500 Gallery

An exhibition featuring 21 prints by Spanish master Francisco Goya (1746 to 1828) from the collection of the National Gallery opens at Kvadrat 500 Gallery in Sofia.

Titled "Francisco Goya: Dreams of a Keen Mind", the exhibition opens at 6:00 p.m. on 4 August and will remain on view until 21 October.

The twenty-one prints from the National Gallery collection follow Goya’s development from his earliest etchings, influenced by Diego Velázquez’s style, to his peak achievements as a social interpreter, remarkable for his sharpness, and a chronicler of dour events and complex human characters. The high artistic level of his four graphic series has left a deep imprint on the history of art.

The exhibition also includes a work by Spanish Surrealist artist Salvador Dalí (1904 - 1989), dedicated to Goya and his celebrated "Los Caprichos" series.
