A total of 655 young rowers (364 men and 291 women) from 54 countries will compete at the World Rowing Under-19 Championships in Plovdiv from Aug. 6 to 9. Bulgaria will field 16 athletes in six boats. Admission to the Plovdiv Rowing Canal will be free.
The opening ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Roman Stadium in Plovdiv's city centre. According to the municipality, World Rowing President and International Olympic Committee member Jean-Christophe Rolland will be among the official guests.
The finals and medal ceremonies are scheduled for Aug. 8 and 9 at the Plovdiv Rowing Canal.
Plovdiv is bidding to become the European Capital of Sport 2028. Its application will be assessed by ACES Europe in November 2026.
