New institute to reveal the secrets of the medieval Balkans

The Council of Ministers has approved the opening of the Institute "Center for Slavic-Byzantine Studies Prof. Ivan Dujčev" as a unit in the structure of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". It will conduct scientific research on the medieval cultural heritage of the Balkans - history, archaeology, literature, art, Slavic-Byzantine cultural traditions and the historical memory of the Balkan communities.

The institute will carry out not only scientific research, but also expert activities to identify, preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Bulgaria. In its work, it will use modern digital technologies to study the Slavic-Byzantine cultural heritage.
