The air forces of Bulgaria, Romania and Spain have signed a trilateral technical agreement enabling cross-border NATO Air Policing operations, Bulgaria's Defence Ministry said. The agreement builds on a 2021 bilateral accord between Bulgaria and Romania and allows Spain to take part in cross-border air policing missions alongside the two countries.

Under NATO's Integrated Air and Missile Defence System, Spanish fighter aircraft stationed in Romania will be able, if required, to conduct air policing missions in Bulgarian airspace as well as in Romanian airspace.
