Bulgaria's share in the EU's economic output reached 0.6% in 2025. This places the country at 19th place in the EU in terms of GDP, according to the latest published data by Eurostat, BTA reports. The Bulgarian economy has gradually taken up an increasing share of the European economy since joining the EU in 2007. At that time, the country's GDP was equal to 0.3% of the EU's economic output and 18 years later this share has doubled.

In nominal terms, the Bulgarian economy grew from 32.46 billion euros in 2007 to nearly 116.02 billion euros in 2025, or by 257.4 percent. in comparison, the EU's GDP was nearly €18.8 trillion in 2025, compared to €10.8 billion in 2007, or a growth of 74.1%. This means that Bulgaria's economy grew 3.5 times faster than the EU's over the period 2007-2025, according to Eurostat.
