Bulgarian triple jumper reaches World U20 Championships final

Zinga Barbosa Firmino qualified for the final of the men's triple jump at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, recording a season's best of 15.81 metres.

The Balkan champion and bronze medallist from the 2025 European Athletics U20 Championships in Tampere became Bulgaria's second finalist at the championships after hammer thrower Dimo Andreev, according to specialist athletics website atletikabg.com.

Barbosa, who is from Yambol and is due to begin studies at the University of Arkansas this year, advanced from the qualifying round with his best jump of the season.

According to atletikabg.com, the triple jump has been Bulgaria's most successful event in the history of the World U20 Championships, with a total of six medals – two gold, three silver and one bronze.
