Turkish Minister of Interior visits Bulgaria

Turkish Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi arrives to Bulgaria today for a visit and will hold a meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart Ivan Demerdzhiev, the Turkish Presidency's Directorate of Communications announced, quoted by BTA.

The focus of the talks will be on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the fight against organized crime, and in particular "the new generation of criminal structures that pose a threat to security in Türkiye and the Balkans". The two sides will also discuss measures to facilitate border crossing amid increased traffic during the summer months, as well as steps to speed up and increase the efficiency of road freight transport. A memorandum of understanding aimed at further strengthening cooperation between Türkiye and Bulgaria will be signed after the meeting.
