Yellow alert issued for dangerous heat across the country

On Wednesday, the lowest temperatures will range from 17°C to 22°C, around 18°C in Sofia. The day will be sunny and hot. In the afternoon, cumulus clouds will develop over the western parts of the country, but there will be little to no rainfall. Winds will be light, becoming moderate in eastern Bulgaria. Maximum temperatures will range from 33°C to 38°C, around 34°C in the capital city.

It will be sunny and hot along the Black Sea coast. Winds will be light to moderate from the northeast. Daytime highs will range from 29°C to 32°C. Seawater temperature is 25–26°C. Sea state 2–3 on the Beaufort scale.

It will be sunny in the mountains. In the afternoon, clouds will increase over the western mountain ranges, but there will be little to no rainfall. Winds will be moderate from the northeast, temporarily strengthening at the highest elevations. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1,200 metres will be around 27°C, at 2,000 metres around 19°C.

On Thursday, cooler air will move in as northeasterly winds strengthen. Rain clouds will develop over southwestern and northeastern Bulgaria, bringing brief showers and thunderstorms in some areas. Hail is also possible. Maximum temperatures will range from 29°C to 34°C.
