Hello and welcome to Bulgaria Today, the English-language podcast of Radio Bulgaria, on August 12 hosted by Rositsa Petkova.
In the next few minutes, we’ll bring you the day’s leading stories from Bulgaria, including the rare astronomical spectacle that will grace the skies tonight. We’ll also take a look at Bulgaria’s latest sporting success, as long jumper Bozhidar Saraboyukov has secured a bronze medal at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham.
Later in the programme, we’ll travel to Budapest and meet members of the Bulgarian community there, discovering how the church, school and cultural centre work together to preserve Bulgarian language, traditions and identity across generations.
And, of course, we’ll round off today’s edition with Bulgarian music.
