The inaugural edition of the international cartoon competition“Devil’s Bridge”, organized by the Municipality of Ardino, attracted 143 artists from 38 countries across six continents. Nearly 260 cartoons were submitted, some of which are currently on display in an exhibition at the bridge of the same name in the Rhodope Mountains, a symbol of the town of Ardino.

The exhibition clearly showed that, from its very first edition, the “Devil’s Bridge” competition has the potential to become a major cultural event, putting Ardino on the international map of cartoon art. The competition’s motto is “Ardino – Nature, History and Beauty”. It is dedicated to the region’s iconic natural and historical landmarks, including the Devil’s Bridge, the meanders of Arda River, the Thracian sanctuary Orlovi Skali (Eagle Rocks), the Ardino Municipal Museum, and other sites.

Through the language of caricature, the organizers aim to highlight the rich cultural and natural heritage of the Rhodope Mountains and encourage a creative perspective on the region’s unique treasures.
