Traffic at Bulgaria’s border checkpoints and crossings is normal, the Border Police reported.
Emergency repairs have begun on the I-7 international road leading to the Lesovo border crossing between Bulgaria and Turkiye. The most severely damaged sections of the route will be repaired. The road is one of the busiest transport arteries in the region and provides a connection between the Trakia Motorway and the Turkish border. The aim is to improve the road surface and traffic safety ahead of the winter season, according to the Yambol Regional Administration.
To improve safety and facilitate travel, heavy trucks weighing more than 12 tonnes will temporarily be restricted from using the Trakia and Struma motorways and the Kresna Gorge between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on August 14, in the direction of Burgas and Kulata.
On Sunday, August 16, the restriction will again apply from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., this time to heavy trucks traveling toward Sofia.
