Sofia among Europe’s most affordable capitals and cites for weekend getaway

Sofia ranks sixth among the most affordable cities in Europe for a short break, with the cost for two people remaining significantly below the European average. The Bulgarian capital is the only destination outside Poland in the top six, according to a new study comparing accommodation, food, and transportation costs in 100 European cities, BGNES reports.

The study was conducted by virtual card provider Getsby, using data from the travel website Budget Your Trip.

The analysis compares typical daily expenses for accommodation, food, and local transportation for two travelers on a mid-range budget. Airfare was excluded because ticket prices vary considerably.

Sofia ranks sixth, behind six Polish cities, while the Bulgarian capital comes ahead of Zagreb, Malmö, Budapest, and Warsaw. The average daily cost for a traveler in Sofia is approximately €77.25.

Wrocław ranks first, with an average daily cost of around €41 per person.
