The first 8 new Skoda electric trains will enter service in Bulgaria on August 14 and by August 20 their number should reach 20, Transport Minister Georgi Peev reported. "This is the beginning of a large-scale modernization," he added. Together with the upcoming deliveries from Alstom, Bulgaria will have 60 new trainsets. The new trains can travel at up to 160 km/h, if the railway infrastructure allows it. The investment in rolling stock under the EU-funded Recovery and Resilience Plan exceeds 400 million euros.
