Prevention of antisocial behavior among minors must be systematic rather than based on isolated, campaign-style measures, Social Affairs Minister Natalia Efremova said in Plovdiv after reviewing the actions taken by local social services regarding the children who participated in or witnessed the killing of Georgi Kuzev.

According to the minister, the focus should be on increasing trust in institutions and improving coordination among child protection authorities. She said that mechanisms are already in place for coordination not only between the police and social services, but also between the education and social welfare systems.

Regarding antisocial acts committed by children and minors, Natalia Efremova stressed the need for legislative changes as well. “The entire law needs to be rewritten. We have measures that do not meet modern requirements for working with children and parents,” she added.
