Preemptive measures have been taken to secure the Bezmer military airbase, where US military aircraft are stationed. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev informed about this, stating that everything is being done in coordination with the Ministry of Defence, reporter Marta Mladenova informed. According to the minister, the measures taken are "for a much higher level of threat than that which is actually reported by the services and the incoming information".

"NATO is ready to respond to any threat and will always do whatever is necessary to protect its members", a spokesman for the Alliance said today regarding information that Iran was considering whether to attack American military targets in Europe. Earlier, the Financial Times reported that Iranian forces were assessing the possibilities of striking American assets in Southeastern Europe, for example in Bulgaria, which last month approved the use of its Bezmer airbase for refuelling American aircraft, BNR "Horizont" recalls.
