A series of concerts dedicated to renowned Bulgarian folk singer Lyubka Rondova will take place along Bulgaria’s southern Black Sea coast to mark the 90th anniversary of her birth. The events are organized by the Bulgarian Art and Folklore Center ''Nestiya'', which worked with Rondova for many years and presented her concerts in Bulgaria and abroad.
Rondova was born in 1936 in the village of Shestevo (Sidirochori), Greece. She was among thousands of children who escaped the Greek Civil War through emigration in 1948. In the 1960s, her family settled in Bulgaria. She became a soloist with the Gotse Delchev Ensemble in Sofia and made hundreds of recordings for the Bulgarian National Radio and Bulgarian National Television, as well as several solo albums. She passed away in Sofia in 2016.
The first concert will be held on August 21, 2026, in front of the town hall in Sveti Vlas. Performances will continue on August 22 at the Artium open-air stage in Nessebar and on August 23 at the central square in Pomorie. The series will conclude on August 24 in Aheloy, on the day marking the 90th anniversary of Rondova’s birth. All concerts will begin at 7 p.m. The programme will feature singers, musicians and dance ensembles from Bulgaria and abroad.
