35 Afghan migrants detained in Strandzha Mountains

Border police officers detained a minibus carrying illegal migrants in the Strandzha Mountains. The incident occurred on the evening of August 18, when a border police patrol from Malko Tarnovo stopped a minibus driven by a 22-year-old man from North Macedonia for inspection. During the check, the officers found 35 male migrants without identity documents who, according to their own statements, were Afghan nationals, the Interior Ministry said.

The driver was detained and fast-track proceedings have been initiated against him. The migrants were also detained. Work on the case is ongoing.
