Overnight, north-western Bulgaria will see mostly cloudy skies, with heavy rain and thunderstorms in places, while the south and east will remain mostly clear. Winds will turn west-north-westerly in the north-west after midnight.
Tomorrow, moderate to strong west-north-westerly winds will bring slightly cooler air. Brief showers and thunderstorms will spread from west to east, with changeable skies across much of the country. Maximum temperatures will range from 29°C to 34°C, around 30°C in Sofia.
The Black Sea coast will be mostly sunny, with some afternoon cloud but little or no rain. Winds will turn west-north-westerly by evening. Maximum temperatures will be 27–29°C, with sea temperatures of 25–26°C. Sea state will be around 3 on the Beaufort scale.
In the mountains, afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected, with heavy rain at times in the Balkan Mountains and the Rila-Rhodope region and a risk of hail. Temperatures will reach around 23°C at 1,200 metres and 17°C at 2,000 metres.
Most of the Balkans will be sunny and the south will remain hot. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in Romania, with afternoon showers in parts of the central Balkans.
