The state of emergency remains in effect in Batak Municipality following the torrential rains at the beginning of the week, which caused damage to private homes and streets in the town and the nearby village of Nova Mahala. The local authorities and social services continue to assess the damage and assist affected households.
A partial state of emergency also remains in effect in Peshtera Municipality, where efforts are underway to repair the damage. A 58-year-old man who disappeared in the swollen waters of the Stara River has been missing for three days. Police, volunteers and a drone equipped with a thermal camera will join the search again today.
In Strumyani Municipality, which was also affected by flooding, damage to private properties is being assessed. Riverbeds are being cleared. Work is underway to repair the damaged water-supply pipeline and restore the railway line in the area.
