Grigor Dimitrov advanced to the second qualifying round at the US Open. The Bulgarian, ranked No. 137 in the world, defeated Italian Lorenzo Giustino 6-0, 6-3.
Thirty-five-year-old Grigor Dimitrov, a 2019 US Open semifinalist and quarterfinalist in 2024, raced through the opening set, winning 70% of points on his first serve and converting all three of his break-point opportunities. He opened the second set with a break and closed out the match on his first match point.
Dimitrov will next face Kazakhstan’s Timofey Skatov, who is ranked No. 205 in the world.
