Seven-year-old boy drowns at sea near Bulgaria's Sozopol

The body of the seven-year-old boy who went missing at sea near Sozopol has been found, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) reports. The boy, from Svishtov, had been missing following an incident in the sea off Harmani Beach in Sozopol. Police said his body was recovered by divers.

The child was found in the sea south of the beach, in the area between the second and third lifeguard posts. His body will be taken to Burgas for an autopsy. The boy was swept away by the sea current yesterday evening.

According to police, the father had taken his three children to the beach. When he entered the water with his son, the two were swept away by the current. The father was rescued by two lifeguards, but the child disappeared into the rough sea.

Police teams took part in the search operation, using two boats and a drone, while patrols searched along the shore.
