Heavy traffic at Kalotina and Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoints

Traffic is heavy for passenger cars exiting Bulgaria through the Kalotina border checkpoint on the border with Serbia, as well as for those entering and leaving Bulgaria through the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint on the border with Türkiye, the Border Police report. Traffic is normal at all border crossings with Greece, Romania and North Macedonia.

Four people died and 23 were injured in 17 serious road accidents over the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Interior. In Sofia, 28 minor road accidents were reported, with no fatalities or injuries. Since the beginning of the year, 304 people have died in road accidents, 29 more than during the same period last year.

One hundred fires were extinguished over the past 24 hours, the Directorate General Fire Safety and Civil Protection reports. No people were killed or injured. A total of 41 rescue and assistance operations were carried out.
