Two major airlines have announced plans to provide 103,000 seats on flights from Germany to Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast during the next summer season, Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov said in Sozopol.

The announcement comes in response to a sharp decline in the number of German tourists, attributed to a lack of flights this summer. According to the minister, Bulgaria lost 220,000 airline seats from Germany, which he blamed on a lack of timely action by the previous regular government.

Most flights from Germany to Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast next year are expected to begin immediately after the Eurovision Song Contest in Burgas.

“We are talking about the airlines ICC and Corendon and nearly 100,000 seats that will be available from next year, and most importantly, they will start from May 15,” Ilin Dimitrov said.
