Yes, Bulgaria, PP and DSB welcome Andrey Gyurov’s presidential bid

Yes, Bulgaria, We Continue the Change (PP) and Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria (DSB) have welcomed the presidential bid announced by Andrey Gyurov and his running mate Georgi Kandev. The parties’ governing bodies are yet to formally decide whether to support the pair.

“Their joint bid offers a clear pro-European perspective for the upcoming presidential election and creates an opportunity to unite citizens who want Bulgaria to develop as a modern European democracy with strong institutions, the rule of law and consistent defence of the national interest,” Yes, Bulgaria said.

“Andrey Gyurov will be a great president, a responsible commander-in-chief and a genuine check on those in power,” PP leader Assen Vassilev said.

“I am convinced that Andrey can win the support of many Bulgarians – not only party supporters. All of us who want Bulgaria to be a genuine democracy, an honest market economy, a fair and prosperous society, and an important part of an increasingly strong and united Europe. All of us who understand that concentrating all power in the country in the hands of two people leads neither to justice, nor freedom, nor prosperity,” DSB leader Radan Kanev wrote on Facebook.
