Hot weather with showers in places

Skies will remain mostly clear overnight, with a light west-northwesterly wind in northwestern Bulgaria and calm conditions elsewhere.

Sunshine will dominate tomorrow, although clouds will build over the southwest, bringing locally brief but at times heavy rain and thunderstorms, with a risk of hail. Isolated showers are also possible in the northeast. Winds will be light to moderate, mainly from the north-northeast. Highs will range from 31°C to 36°C, around 32°C in Sofia.

In the mountains, sunshine will prevail, with local showers and thunderstorms developing over the southwestern ranges later in the day. Winds will be light to moderate from the north-northwest. Highs will reach around 25°C at 1,200 metres and 17°C at 2,000 metres.

The Black Sea coast will be mostly sunny, with patches of low cloud or brief fog in the morning. Winds will be light from the east-southeast, becoming moderate along the southern coast. Highs will be 27°C to 29°C, with seawater temperatures of 24°C to 26°C. The sea will be slight to moderate.

Across the Balkans, a mostly sunny morning will give way to more unsettled weather in the afternoon, with brief showers and thunderstorms in places, mainly in central parts of the peninsula.
