Job vacancies rose by 6% in August compared with the previous month, according to data from the country’s largest employment platform. The sharp declines typically seen during the summer months have eased, but the number of vacancies remains 10% lower year-on-year.
The number of active job postings increased from around 35,000 at the beginning of August to more than 37,000 by the end of the month. The main sectors that offset July’s decline were hotels and restaurants, with nearly 730 more postings, or 17% more than in July.
In manufacturing, vacancies increased by 6.4%, while vacancies in trade and sales increased by nearly 6%. There were also more vacancies in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, up by around 11%, construction, up by 5%, and administrative and support services, up by around 4%. According to experts’ analysis, the year-on-year decline in the overall number of job vacancies is no longer a one-off occurrence. The labor market has remained consistently below 2025 levels in every month since the beginning of the year, BNR reporter Natalia Ganchovska informed.
