Bulgaria has begun the countdown to the 34th Men’s European Volleyball Championship, EuroVolley 2026, which runs from September 9 to 26. The tournament brings together 24 national teams and is jointly hosted by Bulgaria, Italy, Finland and Romania.
Sofia will host the Group B matches, with Bulgaria drawn alongside Poland, Ukraine, Portugal, Israel and North Macedonia, as well as some of the knockout-stage matches.
A giant volleyball with a built-in countdown clock was unveiled today in Sveta Nedelya Square in Sofia. The clock was started by Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev and Bulgarian Volleyball Federation President Lyubomir Ganev. National team captain Aleks Grozdanov, head coach Gianlorenzo Blengini and assistant coach Andrey Zhekov also attended the ceremony.
The first EuroVolley 2026 match in Sofia is at 7 pm on September 9, when Bulgaria face North Macedonia at Arena Sofia. Bulgaria enter the tournament as the 2025 world championship runners-up.
