Kaval player Theodosii Spassov and Café Balkan to perform in Cyprus

The 29^th Cultural Festival of the University of Cyprus, taking place from September 5 to October 11, features musical and theatrical productions from Cyprus, Greece, Spain, the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, the United States and other countries, BNR correspondent Branislava Bobanac reported.

On September 7 at 8:30 p.m., Bulgarian kaval player Theodosii Spassov and Café Balkan will take audiences on a musical journey from the Mediterranean to the Balkans.

The concert “Musical Portraits: From the Mediterranean to the Balkans” brings together musicians shaped by diverse cultural traditions. The ensemble reflects a shared quest for universal values that transcend time and national boundaries, addressing themes such as exile, migration and displacement.

Theodosii Spassov will be joined on stage by Alexandros Gagatsis (drums), Glafkos Kontemeniotis (piano) and Iranaeos Koullouras (double bass). As the organizers note, “Every piece is a portrait. Every portrait tells a story. Every story becomes a bridge between cultures.”
