EuroVolley 2026 begins: Bulgaria faces North Macedonia

Bulgaria is one of the four host countries of the 34th European Men’s Volleyball Championship (EuroVolley 2026), which will take place from September 9 to 26, 2026. Italy, Finland and Romania are the other host nations. More than 120,000 spectators are expected to attend the matches in Sofia.

The matches in Sofia will be played from September 9 to 22. In their opening match today, Bulgaria will face North Macedonia. On September 11, it will take on Portugal, followed by Ukraine on September 12, Israel on September 14, and Poland on September 16. All of Bulgaria’s matches will start at 7 p.m. The round of 16 matches in Sofia will be played on September 19 and 20, while the quarterfinals will take place on September 22.

One of the places in Sofia where the volleyball excitement will continue outside the arena will be EuroVolley Camp, located in the park behind the Earth and Man National Museum, near the European Union metro station. Activities will be held from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., according to Sofia Municipality. Fans and visitors to the city will be able to enjoy a program and activities dedicated to the championship.

Similar programs, during the same hours, will also be held in Lyulin Park, Studentski Park (Student Park), Geo Milev Park behind the monument to Georgi Asparuhov, North Park and Park“100 Years of Sofia” in the Mladost district.
