Draft changes put 2027 minimum wage at €620–€672

The government is submitting draft amendments to the Labour Code to parliament, introducing a new mechanism for setting the minimum wage. Under the proposed mechanism, the 2027 minimum wage will be between €620 and €672. Minister of Social Affairs Natalia Efremova said it would be higher than the current €620, although the exact amount has yet to be determined.

She was responding to a call from the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) for the government to hold off on the legislative changes until the Constitutional Court rules on the challenge to the 2026 budget, which abolished the previous mechanism for setting the minimum wage.

“If we delay setting the exact level of the minimum wage, we risk ending up with no increase at all next year, which is absolutely undesirable,” Efremova said, as quoted by BNR’s Horizont programme.
