Bulgaria once again took part in International Day, also known as the Parade of Nations, at Switzerland’s Collège Champittet. The annual event, held ahead of the new school year, took place on August 21 and gave students and their families from around the world a chance to share their national traditions, art and cuisine.

“This year, 19 nations were represented at International Day, each with its own stand,” Plamen Ivanov, Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian-Swiss Kanatitsa Association, told Radio Bulgaria. The association traditionally organises the Bulgarian stand, which this year was dedicated to Rosa damascena.

“We showed visitors products associated with Bulgaria’s traditional rose production – rose water, rose-oil soaps and cosmetics. All visitors received gifts of rose water and rose-oil products, as well as lavender water,” Plamen Ivanov said.

Visitors could also see Bulgarian folk costumes and sample traditional Bulgarian dishes. And all of the nearly 300 students attending the event had the chance to try ice cream made with Bulgarian rose water.
