Puppet Fair festival in Sofia presents 26 shows from around the world

The international Puppet Fair festival in Sofia will present 26 shows from around the world, introducing audiences to a variety of forms and styles in contemporary puppet and street theatre. The 14th edition of the festival will take place from September 12 to 19, hosted by the Sofia Puppet Theatre.

“The festival will turn different spaces across Sofia into stages for puppet theatre, street performances and encounters between artists and audiences from Bulgaria and around the world,” the organisers said.

More than 15 theatre companies will perform both indoors and outdoors. Puppet Fair has no restrictions on genre or age, with a programme for children, young people and adults that includes theatre productions, street theatre, street musicians and other events.

During the festival, the Sofia Puppet Theatre will celebrate its 80th anniversary with a special series of events devoted to its history and achievements over eight decades of creative work.
