The Sunday school at the Church of St George the Great Martyr and Victory-Bearer in Taraclia, Moldova, will begin its new school year on September 13, the church said. Open to children aged seven and above, the school offers classes in the Orthodox faith, biblical history, Christian values and traditions, with lessons adapted to different age groups. Christmas and Easter events will also be held during the year with the participation of the church rector and priests.

The church in Taraclia dates back more than two centuries. In February 1814, Bulgarian settlers in the town asked the Metropolitan of Chișinău and Khotyn for permission to build a church, and the foundation stone was laid in May that year.

Taraclia has a large ethnic Bulgarian community. According to Moldova’s 2024 census, 7,647 of the town’s 10,021 residents, or around 76%, identified as Bulgarian.
