Jim Caviezel of The Passion of the Christ joins Stoichkov biopic

Hollywood actor Jim Caviezel, best known for "The Passion of the Christ", will appear in the Hristo Stoichkov biopic "Stoichkov – Against All Odds" and has already joined filming, the film’s producers announced.

Undergoing a striking physical transformation for the role, he will play José María Minguella, the influential football agent who recommended Stoichkov to Barcelona coach Johan Cruyff and played a key role in his transfer from CSKA to the Catalan club.

The film traces the career of Bulgaria's most famous footballer, from his early years in Bulgaria through his time at Barcelona, the 1994 World Cup and his Ballon d'Or triumph. Filming is taking place in Bulgaria and abroad, with Martin Makariev directing.
