Foreign Ministry warns of transport blockade in Western Balkans

Strike action by international freight carriers from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina is planned for September 14, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on its website.

Carriers from Montenegro and North Macedonia are also expected to join the strike. All entry and exit terminals for heavy-goods vehicles at land border crossings in the countries concerned are expected to be blocked, including those leading to Bulgaria and the other countries in the Schengen area.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Bulgarian citizens, particularly heavy-goods vehicle drivers planning to travel through or cross the territories of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia or Montenegro, check the latest traffic situation in the respective countries in advance.
