Young Bulgarians leave their parents' home at 27.9 years of age - nearly two years later than the EU average - according to the latest Eurostat data for 2025, reported Maria Kostova.
Across the European Union, the average age is 26.3 years. Young people in Croatia leave the parental home the latest - at nearly 31 and a half years old. Those in Finland move out the earliest - at 21.4 years of age.
In countries where young people leave the parental home earlier, the employment rate within this age group is usually higher.
Bulgarians are now leaving the parental home earlier compared to 2022, when the average age was 30.3 years.
